Stadio Bedok Greenie - Mavericks FC overcame an early onslaught to claim victory on a rain-soaked artificial turf on Saturday. The Outsiders were cajoled to a stuttering start, with their opponents from Kampung FC breaching their defence, not once, not twice, but three times in the opening 20 minutes.
This led to manager Chin Yuen lambasting his team on the touchlines, and forcing him to make tactical changes, which bore fruit as the game wore on. The travelling Mavericks fans in the stands were in for a treat, despite such a major early setback.
Mavericks seemed a different team all of a sudden, and Darran got the ball rolling. After a swift counter attack, the Muscular Man from Lazio, who plied his trade in his early years in the sky blue of the Biancocelesti, bashed through into the box, only to be sandwiched by two Kampung defenders. The referee pointed to the spot, and veteran centreback Chuanji blasted it into the roof of the net. 1-3.
The Outsiders were playing with confidence, and soon after, they got their second goal. Mavericks midfield maverick, Kee Siang, weaved past two defenders, before squaring it to Amir. The flamboyant forward breezed past one, before letting rip a left-footed low drive into the bottom corner of the net to reduce the deficit. 2-3.
And before long, the Outsiders got their equaliser, this time, with Wei Jie and Clarence combining well, before Kee Siang found himself through with some time inside the box. The Mavericks number 7 made no mistake, with a superbly taken right-footed finish which send the fans in the rafters wild. 3-3.
Second half was a drab affair, as both teams went for the killer goal. It was however, going to be Jerome's day, as after a seemingly harmless squared ball to him from Chris on the right, the winger got past his marker and aimed for a cross-shot into the box which dipped into the net from such a tight angle and past the keeper!
Final Score: Mavericks FC 4 Kampung FC 3.

Sky Sports hot reporter Georgie Thompson was in the Mavericks dressing room after the match:
Georgie: Surely that penalty was the turning point of the game for your team. The big question is, did you dive?
Darran: I don't dive. I exaggerate the foul.
Georgie: Erm okay. So, Jerome, that was a nice winning goal you scored. Everyone's asking, did you plan to go for goal, or was that a lucky fluke goal?
Jerome: I've been doing that in training alot, so I truly believe that wasn't a fluke goal. I planned it.
Georgie: We'd like to truly believe that too. Heehee. .......Oww!
(Christiano smacks her butt as he passed by her)
Christiano: HOHOHOHOHOHO!!! (hyena laugh)
