Mavericks Loses Wins! Yay-ness!

(This is a real match report! No longer system error! Finally!)

Mavericks FC starts their "SEASON" with a sensational 3-2 victory over Harish Indy FC!

Scorers: Amir ('27, '66), Khai ('38)
Assist: Khai, Amir, Faizy
MOM: Faizy

Mavericks FC starts their season with a hard-fought victory against Harish Indy FC as they put their horrendous pre-season form behind.

An amazing 12-match beaten streak preceded before the match, a historic event that will long live in the club's checkered past. A timely end to a run of results, something which even Sengkang Punggol FC wouldn't be proud of.

It was a gruelling, tactical affair, as both sides look to hit on the break. The Outsiders started well, with the glorious overlapping runs from both fullbacks/posterboys Clement and Chris, stretching the opposition defence, and a masterclass performance in the middle of the park from Faizy. The proof that love can do wonders to one's body and mind.

Seng Yew played in an unorthodox left wing position, putting in an unorthodox performance with his cultured left foot, with forwards Khai and Amir threatening with every attack.

Harish Indy FC always looked composed and fat when on the ball, however, the Mavericks defence held firm and resolute. Mavericks took a deserved lead, when Khai split the defence with a brilliant past, releasing Amir who finished it in style, with a rabona into the open goal. 1-0.

Despite the setback, Harish Indy FC, captained by the Tall Indian/Russian Striker, made it difficult for the men in black, but it was nothing the Mavericks defence led by Chuan Ji couldn't handle.

Then, against the run of play, after a brilliant exchange from Wei Jie on the right, Amir turned past his marker and set it up for Khai to curl it sweetly past the keeper from the edge of the box. A definite contender for goal of the season, as it sent the travelling Mavericks fans in the rafters into wild celebrations. 2-0.

Second half continued from where it started, with keeper Alex saving well countless of times. Jiun Wei entered the fray to tighten the gaps in midfield, with Faizy's dominance in midfield increasing as the battle raged on.

Then, with some brilliant improvisation, Faizy threaded in a sweet throughball that sent Amir one-on-one with the keeper. The no.14 made no mistake, as he tucked it in to make it 3-0.

It was, however, not to be an easy afternoon for the Outsiders as first thought, as fitness levels began to drop, and their opponents started looking dangerous with every attack. They pegged back, and made it 3-2, as Mavericks FC shot themselves in the foot.

It was a nervy last 10 minutes of the match, as things started looking bleak like it has been for the past 12 matches. The Outsiders did just enough to see it through, despite having star striker Khai stretchered off.

The Outsiders survived , with some brilliant time-wasting down the right-hand side of the pitch between Jiun Wei, Seng Yew and Amir, much to the chagrin of their angry opponents who were heard saying, "Dey, what is this da, you all playing champions league issit? Must play like that?" Haha. Final Score: 3-2. Win!

In a post match interview on the phone, Captain Chao Xing, who was busy having endorsement deals overseas, was jubilant and ecstatic after learning about the club's long awaited victory. He was quoted as saying, "
yes lar. a good end of a beaten streak to celebrate the belated 3rd anniversary!"

Lastly, a Happy 3rd Year Anniversary Team Mavericks!
Wish you many more great years ahead (and signings. haha.) and may we all be the next Team Uncles when we become uncles ourselves. We are half-way there! Cheers!
