The Outsiders are fresh from surviving a hardcore, battling 0-0 draw against a bunch of tenacious, childish uncles last weekend, as the match had to be abandoned with 10 minutes to go.
The referee called the match off after things went out of hand, and as usual, flamboyant winger Amir was on the painful end of yet another uncle-punch/kick/slam/smash.
Midfield general Kee Siang and several other Mavericks players were involved in the clashes with those damn uncles, and we now know why those uncles sent their wives and children away before the match started! They were looking for a fight! Needless to say, we really can't find a peaceful co-existence with team uncles and their like. Must be the word "friendly match" ain't in their vocab. Oh well.
However, the Outsiders can breathe a sigh of relief for this weekend's match, as this time, opponents are Faizy's friends, so we'd expect a tough, competitive, but FRIENDLY match.
Finally. A friendly, friendly, friendly match. Let's have a lil' bit of history shall we?
Team BBR or Team Bawah Block Rangers (a.k.a. Team "Void-deck" Rangers) were Midzi's and Faizy's old clubs, before Mavericks FC snapped them up on free transfers. With quality players such as these two, we are sure in for a tough fight with the team that made these two players the players they are today. Nevertheless, after back-to-back violent matches, it's about team we get to really enjoy a proper, competitive, but friendly match.
But that's not an excuse to douse the flames of fire and passion the Outsiders show week in week out (well, maybe except against Rantau FC) for this match. It's high time we get our first victory for this season, cause, frankly speaking, at this rate we're going, Newcastle United looks like a damn good team. It's time, comrades. It's time to tackle like Paul Scholes (figuratively speaking, of course) and have fun and win matches!
In other news, several Mavericks players namely, Clement, Chuan Ji, Chin Yuen and Alex have been chosen to endorse the Puma brand for this upcoming season 09/10, and they will be showcased in an upcoming Puma TV commercial alongside EPL top scorer Nicolas Anelka.
This will no doubt put Mavericks FC on the footballing world map, and coupled by their superb performances in the recent gay film by director Seng Yew, "I Helicopter-Love You Long Time", it would generate even more revenue for the club, and reduce the tendency of the club's owner to have further shady dealings with the Yakuzas and Triads in the Taiwanese underworld.
Great Success!
