Keeping the team in the D2D League after promotion has been one of the toughest jobs in football. The Mavericks owner will be hoping to continue her record of not being relegated ever before with her teams in her 3 months as a football manager. After promotion, the club kept all the players, but in order to compete in the top division, the team requires big strengthening. This was answered, as the owner splashed her cash on several explosive new signings during the pre-season, in the hope of ensuring premier league survival, as well as a possible top 3 finish.
However, they didn't exactly get the start they hoped. The Outsiders had a taste of how difficult life will be in the league after a hair-raising defeat at the hands of Dirty Dozen FC. An abysmal performance ensured that the owner was tailed by rabid paparazzi all the way to her Hilton HK Hotel suite, who had several questions to raise to her, in the wake of yet another disappointing result for her beloved team. The owner managed to dodge the lurking journalists, as once again, Clement came to the rescue in his Mitsubishi Lancer.
That just emphasizes how crucial it will be to pick up more than their fair share of points on away ground and away from the comforts of their Stade de Sembawang pitch over the next 4 months. It will be a stern test, but something no doubt the Outsiders will be even more determined to put right after a stuttering start to the season.
And, away, in a secret corner, away from civilisation, sits Shebby "Shebster" Singh. Chuckling to himself at the thought of the illustrious football club, that is Mavericks FC down in the doldrums of the league.
