After the away match against Balooku FC in which the Outsiders won in a scrappy 4-3 affair last week, the men in black are looking to extend their winning run to 3 games after a horrendous start to the season. After the unscheduled delay in the relaying of the pitch at the Stade de Sembawang last week, the team finally gets to play on home soil this Saturday against relatively unknown opponents (insert)FC. Little is known of their opposition for this weekend, but reliable sources cite that they are a relatively young team.
The Outsiders would be missing several key players this weekend, most notably, evergreen left-back Clement, hardworking midfielder Wei Jie, who starred in last week's victory, as well as influential playmaker Kee Siang. The Stade de Sembawang faithful hope that the services of the injured Kee Siang would not be sorely missed as they know that he defines to the Mavericks as Francesco Totti would to A.S. Roma. However, they will be boosted by the return to action of Chao Xing and fox-in-the-box striker Wei Long.
Player to Watch: Zhi Fei
Influential forward Zhi Fei capped off an outstanding display last weekend with a goal and an assist for his first match of the new season. He brings about another dimension to the Mavericks attack and the team obviously plays better when their star forward is in the side. His brilliant technique and vision from a deep position, coupled with his clinical finishes would certainly worry any opposition defences and the Stade de Sembawang faithful can look no further that the man to fire up his teammates this weekend. Expect another man-of-the-match winning performance from the Mavericks number 12 on Saturday.
