Mavericks FC picked up where they left off from last week match against Las Hearutsusu FC, grabbing yet another win against Sunand FC, winning by a scoreline of 5-2. The match kicked off on a blistering hot afternoon at Mavericks' home ground, Sembawang Sec, with team players Mike, Weilong and Randy donning opposition colours for Sunand FC as temporary cover for the latecomers.

Mavericks FC started well in the match and took the lead during the 12th minute through their chief striker, Zhi Fei. A cross by fellow striker Fuad into the area was met with Zhi Fei's superb volley. Mavericks soon doubled their lead through a good set up by their very own "Nani" Amir, when he delicately chipped the ball over Sunand's biggest defender on the field to Boon Kee. Boon Kee wasted no time in bringing the ball down and used the outside of his right boot to send the ball into the net. 2-0 to the D'maverians. At the 25th minute, the D'maverians should have finished the game had Chao Xing's curling and dipping free kick from the edge of the penalty box not missed the top corner of the goal at the far post by inches. Mavericks FC then had another chance to seal the game again at the 31st minute, when striker Zhi Fei demonstrated how to earn a proper penalty: Throw yourself hard to the ground! Up step Amir with a weakly struck penalty kick that was duly saved by the keeper.

Sunand FC did not give up though and kept on with their attacking play. They were rewarded with a penalty, this time referee was being blamed for being a little harsh by the white-blues when he adjudged Mavericks midfielder Jason to have handled in the box. While Alex tried to put the opponent off, he could not prevent the ball from reaching the back of the net. The white-blues seemed to lose their nerves after the penalty during the last 5 minutes of the half, but they managed to preserve the 2-1 lead until the break.

The second half kicked off with Mavericks changing to an attacking 3-5-2 formation. With striker Fuad pulling back to be attacking midfield to cover up for the absence of playmaker Kee Siang, Mavericks looked to extend their lead as Fuad sent the hard-running winger Chung Wei down the line repeatedly to wear down Sunand FC's defenders. 9 minutes after the break, Fuad choked up yet another assist. This time his shot was deflected into the path of Wei Long, who drove home with a volley, once again proving his predatory and goal poaching instincts in the penalty area.

Sunand FC pulled one back through a well rehearsed free kick, their midfielder setting up their striker who twisted and turned when he received the pass and slotted the ball through the crowd into the bottom left corner. But after that, the match soon become one sided as Sunand FC's lack of subs took a toll on the first 11 players.

After almost 20 minutes into the 2nd half, Boon Kee missed a chance to double his goal tally for the match, when Amir sent a through ball to him. As he tried to round the keeper, the angle was duly covered by another defender. Some quick counterattack in the 68th minute saw winger Amir the provider yet again who was reintroduced back to the game at the 50th minute, he whipped a tricky cross into the box that caused confusion in the Sunand defence. Chao Xing showed once again how to be a wonder sub, coming on back to the game after a quick rest. Similar to a previous game against the Antics, he scored in less than 60 secs of playtime after coming in at the hour mark. A run-in into the penalty box from midfield saw Chao Xing outmuscle 2 stunned defenders, pick up the loose ball and power a shot past the helpless keeper. It was a goal at the right moment to put a dent into Sunand F C's morale after they threatened to come back from behind in the second half. Exciting Amir then produced some wonderful display of ball control resulting and beating the opposing defence several times but had every reason to curse his finishing for not being able to add to his goals tally.

The game is well and over when Zhi Fei sealed victory for Team Mavericks in the 78th minute. This time midfield maestro Seng Yew sent in a long through ball for Zhi Fei to run past the weary defender of Sunand's. Zhi Fei dribbled into the box and sent an unstoppable shot at the tightest angle into the roof of the net. Great classy finish. The rest of the game progressed without much highlights as both teams pressed on for more goals, with Mavericks being the more dangerous side on the counter.
